Privacy Policy
1. The "Local-First" Promise
At MediaFlow, we have built our architecture around a simple principle: Your data is yours. unlike cloud-based converters, MediaFlow processes your video and audio files entirely on your local machine using your own hardware (CPU/GPU).
We do not have access to:
- Your media files (videos, audio, images).
- Your generated transcripts or subtitles.
- Your download history.
2. Data We Collect
We purposefully collect as little data as possible. We only collect:
- License Verification: To validate your Pro subscription, our software communicates with our license server (LemonSqueezy) to check if your key is active.
- App Updates: The app checks our update server to notify you of new versions.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixels, or any third-party trackers in our desktop application.
3. AI & Transcriptions
MediaFlow uses OpenAI's Whisper model technology, but it runs offline inside the application. No audio is ever sent to OpenAI or any other cloud provider. You can disconnect your internet and the transcription features will still work perfectly.
4. YouTube & External Services
When you download a video, the application connects directly to the content provider (e.g., YouTube, TikTok). These interactions are subject to the privacy policies of those respective platforms.
5. Browser Extension Permissions
If you choose to install the optional MediaFlow Browser Extension, the extension requires specific permissions to function. None of this data is transmitted to our servers or any third party. It is only communicated locally to your installed MediaFlow desktop application.
- Host Permissions ("*://*/*"): The extension requires access to all websites to detect embedded videos and provide a universal "Download with MediaFlow" button.
- Cookies: The extension reads site cookies strictly to synchronize your logged-in session state with the local MediaFlow desktop app. This allows you to download age-restricted or members-only videos you legitimately have access to. Cookies are never stored permanently or transmitted externally.
- Clipboard ("clipboardRead"): The extension reads your clipboard solely to detect copied video URLs for one-click downloading.
